User Properties

This dialog box is used to define the properties of a user.

See also: User Definition

Identification

Name

Enter in this field the name of the user (1 to 20 characters). If the user was already defined, this field can only be modified by an authorized user (authorized on-call configuration and access level greater than or equal to the access level of the configured user profile).

First Name

Enter in this field the first name of the user (optional, 0 to 20 characters). If the user was already defined, this field can only be modified by an authorized user (authorized on-call configuration and access level greater than or equal to the access level of the configured user profile).

Language

In this drop-down list, select the user's usual language. Messages intended for the user will be transmitted preferentially in that language.

The languages available in the drop-down list are those that are already in use (user interface language, language of defined users).

To add a language to the list, click on the button to the right of the field and select the desired language from the displayed list. To delete one of the languages, click on the same button, select the language to be deleted, then click on the "Mask" button.

Profile

Select in this drop-down list the profile assigned to the user, this profile defining its access rights to the software. This profile is configurable and allows you to select the menu and the toolbar to be displayed, the accessible screens and the commands allowed on each of these screens.

The profile assigned to the first defined user ("ALERT" user at the origin) can not be changed. This user must always have the system profile.

Virtual user

Check this box if the defined user does not represent a real user, but a communication device shared by several users: cell phone, common telephone, fax, etc.

ID

Enter in this field the numeric code of 1 to 9 digits for user identification. The length of this code is defined in the "Waited length for identifier" option in the Vocal Server dialog box (see Vocal Server Configuration). This code is used to identify the correspondent during a voice communication. It is assigned automatically when the user is created. It can be modified at any time by the user himself (or an user having the required access rights), provided however that it is unique in the user list (otherwise the code entered is refused).

Password

Enter in this field the password of the user (optional, 0 to 256 characters). This code is used to authenticate the operator during local or telephone access. If the "Correspondent authentication (password)" vocal server option is validated (see Vocal Server Configuration), this code must be a numeric code (typing of a non-numeric character is denied).

If the "Active Directory Authentication" option is enabled (see General Options), this code will only be used for user authentication by telephone when authentication is required (see Vocal Server Configuration).

Identifier (login)

The identifier defined in this field is the name that must be entered by the user to log on to ALERT. By default, this identifier is automatically initialized by the string "<first name>.<name>" (or <name> if the first name is empty). It can be redefined by any other character string, but in any case the defined name must be unique among the identifiers of the existing users.

When the "Active Directory Authentication" option is enabled (see General Options), this identifier must be the user identifier for the Active Directory server of the domain.

Test...

Click on this button to test the validity of the identifier entered under the Active Directory of the domain. This action is possible even if the "Active Directory Authentication" option is not enabled.

The first time you click on this button, a dialog box is displayed requesting the user's password logged in ALERT (and allowed to access the Active Directory server), so that you can log in with the Server and perform validity checking of the entered identifier. This request will no longer be made for the following checks, until the session is closed (user logout).

Dial numbers

This tab displays the list of numbers that can be used to reach the operator.

List of call numbers

Each call number is defined on 5 columns:

  • Id: Number identifier. The check box validates whether or not the number is in the call sequence. A starry Id (*) indicates that the call is not validating and that the call sequence will not stop after calling this number and immediately continue to the next number of the call sequence. The color associated with the number makes it possible to visually reference it in the schedule of the call numbers. The displayed digit is the call number identifier in the list.
  • Type: Type of media used to reach the user (voice, email, fax, ...).
  • Number/Address: Call number or address of the user regarding the used media.
  • Calls: Number of attempts to call the number in case of failure, waited time between each attempt (in parentheses, in seconds).
  • Ack: Number of attempts to call the number when the call is not acknowledged, the maximu waited time to receive the acknowledgment (in parentheses, in minutes), or "Auto" if the call is acknowledged automatically, or "-" If no acknowledgment is expected (non-validating call ).

The numbers are called sequentially in the order defined in the list, ignoring the unchecked numbers. Calling the next number in the list will only be performed if the current number fails, after the defined number of attempts for the number in question, or immediately afterwards if the current number is declared non-validating (Starry id, "-" in the "Ack" column). The call sequence ends at the first validating number successfully called.

Modification of the list

Click on the Id of a number check box to validate or not the number in question.

To add a call number to the list, click on the "Add" button (see Call Number Definition).

To modify a call number, select it from the list and click on the "Edit" button (see Call Number Definition).

To delete a call number, select it from the list and click on the "Delete" button.

Use the buttons and to the right of the list to change the order of numbers in the list.

Note: When the call number schedule is activated (green light on the "Schedule" button), it is not possible to change the list of call numbers (except for modifying a number). To validate/invalidate a number, to modify the order of the list, to add or to delete a number, it is necessary to first deactivate the schedule of the call numbers.

Schedule of call numbers

Click on the "Schedule" button to show or hide the schedule of the user's call numbers. When the schedule is active, a green light is displayed on this button.

The call number schedule defines in a graphical form the weekly assignment of the call numbers to be used to reach the operator.

The call numbers programmed for each day of the week are represented as a line of the color of the number. Over the same day period, several numbers can be superimposed, defining a list of numbers to be called in the order displayed on the row (from top to bottom). Of course the call will stop at the first issue that has been completed and declared as validating.

To assign a number to the schedule, select it from the list of numbers and then, using the mouse, draw the rectangular area corresponding to the desired period (on one or several days) on the weekly schedule.

Note: Holidays are defined in the general on-call schedule by clicking in the schedule on the 1st column of the line corresponding to the desired day.

To activate the schedule of the displayed call numbers, check the box "Activation". The green light is illuminated on the "Schedule" button and the edition of the call list is invalidated. Uncheck this box to disable the schedule and allow you to change the list of call numbers displayed.

The "Resolution" drop-down list defines the resolution of the schedule in minutes (minimum time slots).

The "Max numbers" drop-down list defines the maximum size of the sequence of numbers that can be displayed in the schedule for a given period (number of lines per daily row).

Service

This tab displays the availability status of the user as well as the list of call groups to which it belongs with its service status in each of these groups and its possible replacement in each group.

Duty status

This drop-down list contains the list of user statuses defined for the operators (see User Statuses). The current status of the user is selected in this list. This status can be changed (forced) by selecting another status from the list.

Schedule

The status of a user can be programmed in a weekly and calendar schedule. This schedule can be used to plan the user's periods of service, leave and any other event that may affect his service (travel, training, meetings, etc.). Depending on the parameters defined for each user status, the user may not be called to process the alarms that concern him, or to process only the priority alarms or to be called only as a relief user.

To access this schedule and configure it, click on the "Schedule" button (see User Schedule). A green light is displayed on the button when the schedule is activated.

Note: When the schedule is activated and the status of user is forced from this dialog box or from any other interface (user list, AlertMobile, ...), the forced status will apply until the next programmed status change in the schedule or without limit according to the global option "Oncall.DutyEnd" (0 = no limit, 1 = until the next programmed status change).

List of call groups / Replacements

This list contains the list of call groups to which the user belongs.

For each group, it is possible to put the user out of service (he will not be called to handle the alarms of the group) and to designate a replacement in the group in question.

To change the operating status of the operator in a group, select the desired group from the list and click on the "Replaced by..." button. The displayed dialog box (see User Replacement) enables the user to be switched on/off duty in the group and, in the event of an off-duty selection, to select a substitute in the group.

If no group is selected, it is also possible to click on the "Replaced by..." button. In this case, the status selected in the displayed dialog box and the selected substitute (from the list of users belonging to all the groups of the replaced operator) will be applied to all the groups in the list.

Advanced

This tab displays the advanced properties of the user.

Station

Select the station to which the user is normally attached. This information is used only as a discriminant to offer the possibility of users with the same name and first name on different stations.

By default, the name of the local station is proposed.

User call

Call options specific to the user.

  • Call on alarm reset. If the call on alarm reset is enabled, the user will be called for all returns to the normal state of alarms for which this type of call has been validated.

  • Call on alarm acknowledgment. If the call on alarm acknowledgment is enabled, the user will be called for all acknowledgment of alarms for which this type of call has been validated.

Console

This option, when checked, defines the user as a "console". Users designated as "console" receive messages transmitted by client applications via the DDE command "SendConsole" or the API function "AlertSendConsole".

Messages button

Use this button to view the list of messages for the user.

It is validated only if this list is not empty.
