Communication Ports
To define and configure the communication ports, select the "Communication..." command from the "Configuration" menu (or click on the button on the toolbar), then, on the displayed dialog, select the tab "Ports".
List of communication ports
The displayed list displays the configured communications ports. These can be physical ports (COM1, COM2, ...), ISDN ports (CAPI1, CAPI2, ...), SIP ports (SIP1, SIP2, ...) or modems previously installed using the Windows control panel.
TCP/IP ports (SOCKET1, ...) can also be created automatically by the communication drivers.
The port status displayed in the list is updated in real time. This status can be:
- Not used: The port is not used by the application.
- Out of order: The port is used, but does not work properly.
- Initialization...: The modem is being initialized.
- Modem ready: The modem is ready to make or receive calls.
- Ring...: The modem answers an incoming call.
- Connection in progress...: The modem makes an outgoing call.
- Connected: The connection is established in "data" mode.
- Disconnect...: The connection is being disconnected.
- Fax transmission...: The modem is in fax communication.
- Voice communication...: The modem is in voice communication.
Possibles actions
Add
Click on this button to add a communication port to the list. This port can be a physical port, an ISDN port, or a TAPI modem (see Selection of communication port).
Properties...
Click on this button to configure the settings for the port selected in the list (physical port, ISDN port, or modem). See Communication Port properties, ISDN Link Properties (CAPI), SIP Link Properties, or Modem Link Properties (TAPI).
Remove
Click this button to delete the port selected in the list.
Initialize
Click this button to reinitialize the port selected in the list.
The current state of the port is refreshed in real time in the list.
Monitor...
Click on this button to display the Line Monitor screen and control the exchanges on the selected port. See Communication log.
Communication log
Check this option to validate the recording of the data transmitted and received by the communication ports. See Communication log.
