USB protection key not recognised
Symptom
The USB key is not recognized after installing Alert on a machine that already uses the Safenet license management solution (PCVue, etc.).
Cause
A Sentinel driver was installed during Alert setup, despite another Sentinel driver already existing on the system for different software.
Resolution
- Remove all Sentinel drivers using the cleanup utility from the Thales support portal (select the 32-bit or 64-bit version matching your system)
- Unplug all USB drives and dongles from the machine
- Restart the machine
- Reinstall Sentinel drivers through Alert setup — select only Protection key drivers
- Reconnect all USB drives and dongles
Prevention
If a Sentinel driver already exists on your system, uncheck "Protection key drivers" during installation of the Micromedia solution to avoid conflicts.
